Cofounder

Cofounder opportunity for an environmentally-minded, personable and entrepreneurial biz dev person.

SeaHive is a for-profit poised to make a huge impact on the problem of ocean plastic pollution and seeks a cofounder to help make it happen. Our unique approach already has the attention of major companies, organizations, and investors. If you believe in the potential for business as a force for good, please read on.

About SeaHive:

SeaHive is a design and consulting company with a mission to fight a major cause of ocean pollution: single-use plastic packaging.

We have recently completed our first case study, designing and sourcing 100% plastic-free packaging for the Pakt One travel bag. 10,000 bags shipped globally in June, each package bearing the SeaHive Seal, something we hope will follow in the footsteps of seals like Organic, Fair Trade, Cruelty-free, and non-GMO. As the movement to refuse single-use packaging grows, the SeaHive Seal will begin to influence the purchasing decisions of an increasingly discerning market.

We also seek to spread awareness to consumers and producers alike by including educational materials within our innovative and beautifully-designed packaging solutions. Customers that were going to buy a product anyway can now learn more about the plastics issue with no additional effort.

About the role:

We are ready to charge full steam ahead and have a small distributed team of industrial designers and a full-time operations manager on board ready to take on the challenge. The existing founder is currently splitting his time between two companies, SeaHive and Pakt, so we are looking for a cofounder who wants to help shape and guide the company with their strong business development skills and make a big impact on a major environmental crisis.

This person shines at sales pitches, getting clients on board and funding in place. They thrive on networking with heads of NGOs, clients, suppliers, and investment firms alike. The person we are looking for cares about the environment so much they want to do everything in their power to protect it. They believe that doing good within the context of a for-profit business model can be an extremely effective way of making an impact.

We are looking for a dynamic, action-oriented, and organized individual whose love of the ocean comes across in all their duties as cofounder. Your role will be to negotiate new business and investment while laying a structure for the company to be successful in the short and long term.

Compensation:

For the time being we are seeking a cofounder who will contribute sweat equity until we onboard clients and secure funding to pay salaries. We have a solid plan and timeline in place to revenue and funding so we expect to be properly funded before long. Part-time work until we reach that point is acceptable. A substantial equity stake is also available.

Required tasks and skills:

  • Construct a business and revenue plan setting clear priorities and targets

  • Develop proposals and presentations for prospective clients, investors, and partners to drive towards closure of new business

  • Create strong relationships with partners in related businesses and industries

  • Explore opportunities for widening our reach, building credibility, and trust

  • Evaluate potential new business sources to present collaboration and investment opportunities to

  • Project the revenue and cost implications of potential deals and their impact on the company

  • Travel to meetings with clients and investors and represent our brand at conferences and other networking events

  • A previous track record of building and growing successful long-term partnerships is preferred

  • Knowledge of the consumer products space, packaging industry, supply chains, and the ocean plastic pollution problem are all a plus
